Just uploaded 4 videos from the Sea Wolf live show in Vancouver at ElectricOwl they played last friday, Nov 2.  was a great show in a small venue.  can tell the crowd did not really know the band too well bc most were dining and the ones on floor were quite tamed.  the videos uploaded are short clips bc i wanted to enjoy the show.  would have had more clips but i dropped my cell and it cracked open! no worries though, was able to put it back together and still functions!  thought was gonna need to duct tape it together, meep. thx to the dudes behind me for finding the pieces and putting it back together.  so enjoy the vids through the link or head on over to the News section

cheers.

ok so finally have a new review!  The XX's 'XX' is up all set up and ready to go.  Some mellow, electronic, beats with both both female and male vocalists.  Its an 09 released album.  They released new material this month but have not havd the chance to listen to it thoroughly so not going to review it just yet.  howver, their debut is absolutely amazing mellow and catchy.  I just realized how great they are and should have given hem a listen in 09, but was too preoccupied by the idea that that were an indy band gone sellout. so enjoy.

Sheepdogs are streaming their entire album for free on espn!  heres the link  http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/sounds/post/_/id/2767/the-sheepdogs

produced by carney of black keys and you can def hear some of the influence; however, sheepdogs still have their unique sound- very 70s esk still.  unlike black keys' 2 most recent albums, which is sounding more top 40, sheepdogs still has the southern flare.   really upbeat.  saw these guys open for kol and they were great.  was hoping for band of horses but enjoyed sheepdogs as last min replacement!  will post some vids soon.

soundtracks will be updated soon as well.  some chris tilton's fringe s1 score will be reviewed very shortly. been obsessed with the ost since i finished s1.  great chill studying music.  along with fringe, desplat's kings speech will be up soon as well. so look out for it. kings speech more orchestral than fringe.   so look out for that as well.

cant wait for no doubts new stuff!  no reviews up yet, but hopefully will do soon.  updated twitter tracks to feature stateless, we are augustine,  mutemath, and cinematic orchestra, bahamas, f+m, and ima robot etc...  so go and enjoy the rest of summer before it all goes away!

cheers B)

May 18th 2012,

its been a while! updated twitter tracks with a few of my favorites right now.  some classic stuff, some brand new, and a few in betweens (mothe mother, she wants revenge, al green, andy brown, white stripes, band of horses etc..).

i love that soundgarden, imo, offspring, sam roberts, our lady peace, big wreck & metric are just a few that are  back with new material. some are back to their good ol sound, some new and more upbeat and just a few that changed direction, but they are mostly decent. a bit sad that linkin park material is not what i was hoping for; however, the kiddies are loving their new stuff which is a good thing.  music is music and cant complain about that too much; although i have! case closed.

now some albums will be up for review soon!  thinking about black keys, jack white...maybe some other ones as well. so look out for it, but for now please enjoy the twitter tracks and have a great summer!

cheers!

forgot to upload some vids and pics from the kol concert in vancouver back in september.  they sound great live; just like listening to their album.  enjoyed the concert so uploaded it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/musicinplethora?blend=1&ob=video-mustangbase  and new/misc section.

enjoy.

 Jan 1, 2012

cheers to 2012!  thought this would be a good time to update the site and keep it updated monthly as promised waaayy before.  updated concerts, guitar chords, and twitter tracks.  just updated reviews with some savage garden, so enjoy!  will be reviewing some older stuff from kol and some newer stuff by others released coming early this new year. already loving BoS's 'devil takes care of his own' and 'unreleased'-devils rug'. cant wait for the n. american release in feb. also, hats off to the ones doing the polar bear swim and kicking off the new year with style, today! so hopefully everyone enjoyed ending 2011 and starting 2012!

August 26, 2011

updated soundtracks and have lords of dogtown up for review.  its a feel good album full of 70's rock goodness.  also added a guitar chord/vid section if you want to learn some guitar. these are just  some easy guitar tutorials from youtube. i just compiled a few simple ones that i thought are useful and easy to learn. they are very helpful if you are a beginner.   there are so many on youtube that are completely useless so i wanted to share and acknowledge these useful ones.

enjoy.

August 21st, 2011

been going through my cd collection; thats right, actual hard copy cds.  came across some of my favorites oldies (90's -  early 2000s).  so up for a short  review is swollen members from my hip hop phase.  so bad dreams is up for review, enjoy! ill follow up with some more reviews asap!  also best of 90s rock playlist will be up soon because recently ive been listening to so many 90s college rock hits it is insane.  so wait for some live, goo goo dolls, oasis, blind melon, alice in chains, third eye blind, pixies, blur...dont worry not all grunge.

cheers

July 3, 2011

two tracks i recently heard from styrofoam ones and the blow.  both are not new tracks but pretty catchy and poppy (twitter tracks section).  so enjoy. and cheers to canada!

new incubus sounds pretty chill. resembles light grenades more than their previous stuff. their sound is evolving and maturing.  sounds chiller but boyd still sounds awesome. its released july 12, 2011.  their first track reflects the rest of the album quite well.

June 30th, 2011

Just wanted to shed some light on the HST in BC ads.

The ads are a bit misleading so I wanted to make sure we all know what we are voting for when the ballots come in the mail.  It is important to mail in your votes before JULY 22, 2011

The reduction of HST from 12% to 10%-->they are doing this in two parts.  On July 1st 2012 it will go down 1% , which means 11% HST; then on July 1, 2014 it will go down another 1% which means at that point it becomes 10%.  in other words its will take approx 3 years for the HST to be reduced to 10% from 12%.

Another ad promises a ONE TIME transition CHEQUE for low income seniors and children under 18.  Remember this is a  ONE TIME CHEQUE for $175.

This is what will happen if the HST stays.

SUMMARY: if you vote NO the KEEP THE HST

At present HST= 12% until July 1, 2012

July 1, 2012 HST= 11% until

July 1, 2014 HST= 10%

A ONE TIME transition cheque will be sent out to children under 18 and low income seniors for $175.  THIS IS A ONE TIME TRANSITION CHEQUE.

ALSO

"The independent panel also noted that while consumers are paying more, businesses are saving money. Furthermore, the Province remains committed to balancing the budget in 2013/14 while reducing the HST burden on families and modest income seniors. To help meet this commitment, government will increase the general corporate income tax rate to 12 per cent from the current 10 per cent on Jan. 1, 2012, and postpone the reduction in the small business tax rate planned for April 1, 2012. The measures would be temporary until the fiscal situation allows for further reductions."  (hstinbc.ca)

 http://www.hstinbc.ca/?section_id=5119&section_copy_id=555

So please be cautious of the commercials and educate yourself before you decide to vote.

Voting --> YES means to reinstating pst +gst (BACK TO WHAT IT WAS BEFORE hst was implemented )

Voting--> NO means to keep the HST that we are currently paying (12%)

From what I can see, it will be cheaper with HST for larger items like a pick up truck BUT for the NORMAL day to day purchases like COFFEE, FAST FOOD, and other things we buy on the norm is cheaper than the HST 12 or 10 percent.

hopefully this helps!

the link below is the items subject to taxes.  it makes poor people more poor.  2nd hand clothes has more tax.  that is insane.  safety equiptment is also taxed. over the counter meds as well.  students get taxed for buying certain stationary items as well.  Books, magazines, newspapers also taxed under HST.  It seems only diapers are getting the break.

i would prefer to pay an extra 3 percent for booze than to pay 5% more for my coffee, food at a restaurant, concerts, movies.

ive updated news and have a link to the article from straight concerning legal advice for the riot.  just wanted to see what others have to say.  remember you dont have to agree with anyone, just have a voice! if you dont or do  agree with me, please feel free to email or leave a comment.  be vocal b.c its always good to have stimulating discussions.

Last nights game was not marvelous, but overall it was not too bad. Thought 1st period wasnt to a bad start. does anyone else think tim thomas' face and demeanor  is irritating? trying to cover up the assoleness through interviews after the game.  they even called themselves "sophisticated." what a load crock. anyways can truly say it was a good fair game last night (bruins not playing like chickens with their heads cut off).  disappointing game, but riots were idiotic and unnecessary.  if it were a protest for a political purpose it could have be justifiable (but still violence not answer) but this was just stupid.  sorry for lack of a better word.  Vancouverites are out there right now cleaning up the crap, which is very cool and very much how vancouver is all about.  thumbs up to you guys.  CHIN UP, VANCOUVER! next season will be here before our eyes!

btw new  foos not too shabby and lp are doing new stuff. hopefully some stuff that sounds less like crap.

June 2, 2011

just embedded a video of the artic circle by Norwegian photographer Terje Sorgjerd. just because. no good reason but just because... so please enjoy.

btw nucks are doing awesome!!! my man (bieksa) just keeps on fighting.  I mean who the hell keeps hooking another player?!!

a free track from their new album can now be downloaded on Bon iver's official page

May 4th 2011

some exciting news! kings of leon in vancouver at rogers arena on september 14th 2011! tix go on sale on May 6th. it will be an awesome show and i cant wait.

and now, some  upsetting and frustrating news, a large percentage of Cdns have chosen and voted for a Conservative Canada.  it sucks to see libs defeated (now we pay  pensions for those who lost their seats.)  Congrats to Layton and NDPs for gaining more seats in the house to be officical opposition and May for finally getting the derserved GREEN seat in the house.  Layton may have gained seats and a new official title, but, it is obvious he lost power to vote against and influence change to  Harper's present and future decisions.  It would have been more awesome if it was a conservative minority and ndp official opposition.  It would have been even more ideal for the libs to lead country and ndp to be official opposition.  Howver, Ignatieff's family pack did not resonate with many cdns.  Libs would have been a good chioce but cdns have been persuaded by lowering taxes (but of course taking it from another place...ie health care, seniors, students etc..) fighter jets, and a decent economy by providing more minimum wage work.  i see private prisons and 3 strike rule coming into play as well as  our  future universal health care system dilapidate.  remember if no one lives long enough with the limited healthcare or is around to reap the benefits of a decent minimum wage economy and sercurity  with fighter jets sent abroad, is it truly worth it????

by the way, your aging momma, papa, grandma, and granpa will not have the luxury to retire at 65, but will be fortunate enough to work  until the age of 70 (from the budget).  angry released prisoners who are kept in newly built prisons without fixing their criminogenic issues will be living in our backyards with our families. a majority of prisoners are not lifers, they will inevitably come back into our communities but now without being treated.  how angry will they be??  thats a bit too much ranting...so for all those who voted a tip of the captains hat to you all, and the ones who didnt vote, dont fucking complain about how conservative canada  is doing, but to the ones who voted, we can compain all we want!

also a simple question to all the Females running for Conservative local MPs, why would you advocate for conservatives when equality is being surpressed??? and especially to the ethnic females running, conservatives are not exactly supporting programs for ethnic people or new immigrants.  without the likes of pierre trudeau and the libs or ndps welcoming our parents and grandparents, we would not be here.  think about it and please learn from it come next election.  it just baffles my mind.  cdns really need to be motivated to learn about politics.  hopefully some politician would realize how little knowledge cdns have and motivate and move cdns away from what many believe they are apathetic about.

cheers!

April 28, 2011

Its been such a long time since an update and I apologize for not keeping it more consistent.  however, i have updated reviews and now the new top 20 weekly, and concerts, so enjoy!

also, in light of the release of scream 4, my favorite scream soundtrack is up for review! its a bunch of heavy hitters like slipknot, incubus (then),  godsmack, and bunch more...

Something also worth mentioning, share your  choice and vote on MAY 2, 2011.  Whether it is Liberal, NDP, Green, or even Conservative (ladies, vote wisely) that one fancies, just make sure to go out May 2nd and excersize those democratic rights that other countries are currently fighting for their lives to have. if you want to legitimatly criticize how a political party runs our country, then  you only have the right to do it if you personally placed a vote.  Otherwise, you should not complain because you dont have the right to say anything if you were not a part of it to begin with!

cheers!

Jan 16, 2011

just thought everyone would like to know about the big dogs,-ogers/fido co.  txt msging increase to $0.20/text...rogers/fido being  pretentious...capitalism at its best...new competition tactic is not working as smoothly as forecasted.  in effect on March 16, 2011.   moblicity and wind not competitive enough?

btw, new music reviews coming soon... 2011 starting out with a bang.  New material from gaga, britney spears to chilli peppers and staind! pearl jam is coming out with more editions of previous stuff so enjoy it.  im a fan of pj but they gotta get out new material and not just reissue old ones with a new cover!  cant wait to review all of them...

cheers,

got bif review up.  enjoy.  also i will be posting radiohead review up soon.

just uploaded a vid  in the news section by brian skerry, just because.  has really nothing to do with music but thought it was interesting to have knowlege of...and i put up the jay baruchel q and a interview up in the news section as well.  updated news, concert, top 30, and twitter section. for twitter section i put up some classic no doubt, the drums (i originally put it up summer of 09'  but thought i would repost the link because its finally getting some real airplay after such a long time since its release), oceanship, and some awesome black keys.

 september 17, 2010

k

September 13, 2010

heard new linkin park and have to say one of the worst albums ever! i am writing this with conviction because the evolution of their music is horrid.  minutes to midnight was meteocre, a bit lighter but still catchy; however, this new stuff is a step in a different direction.  techno, some bits of reggae, and weird sounds is what the album has become. im of course not going to review this is full detail, because im not gonna hurt my eardrums again.  i gave it a chance but it didnt work for me.  anyway enough ranting...

disturbed along with stone sour and a few more heavy hitters are gonna be coming to vancouver for a show at the colosium.  cheap tix (19 +service charge) and a great chance to see a few good bands.  going to be updating the review section soon, so wait for that...by the way, kings of leon came out with new stuff. it took me  a few listens before it caught on, but im sure the album will be great!   also, loving deftones greatest hits and kanye's track power.

k

August 30th , 2010

updated bookshelf. decided to put up the pumpkins widget thing on the news section. enjoy! also i will soon add a link to booksinplethora, which is site designed to sell preloved textsbooks from sfu courses. a good place to sell/trade texts. itll be more economical to purchase and sell.  so look out for that and see if you are interested in buying and selling.

August 27, 2010

updated top 30 , concerts,  and updated reviews by adding oasis and justin nozuka .  soundtrack section also updated-8 mile ost.

went to an early screening of scott pilgrim presented by cfox in early august and the soundtrack is amazing.  going to review that soon enough.  the movie was mediocre but it did have a potentially great idea, however, the execution could have been better.  if you enjoy michael cera, angry/bored kids and video game antics then it would be of your liking.

btw, new album from soundgarden very soon! and very excited for it.

cheers

k

June 26, 2010

updated top 30, news, and concerts section.  hope everyone is out enjoying the sun and getting tons of new music blasting loudly!  been a good while since i have updated so i will get on it right now.  new eclipse soundtrack out and loving the black keys, dead weather, and a new band (to me, anyways)  eastern conference - a million miles an hour is awesome. so give it a go. be back with reviews asap.

the q & a from jay baruchel is up check it out here.

hope everyone enjoyed cfox's free show on granville and georgia last evening!

and go watch toystory 3! great movie, almost made me wanna cry (and im not a cryer). girl with dragon tattoo is good too, if you are in the mood for a dark thriller. (is in swedish, so has subtitles).

k

 May 20th, 2010

I have the dead weather, sea of cowards review up.  so enjoy.  wants some free music downloads from spin magazine? go to their website and check it out.  ill put up the link asap.  stp have new material being released soon.  very excited about that! will give you more details asap.

the twilight 3 movie ost has released the artists involved, and it includes beck, metric, muse, sia, dead weather, black keys etc...  and Howard Shore is composing the scores and so its all exclusive to twilight 3.  these guys know how to put together a soundtrack.  As for my thoughts on the movie, it looks darker and better than the last one.   this is what i would call a vampire movie, where i expect nothing less from the director of 30 days 30 nights.  have to say excited to watch it.

k

May 13, 2010

I went to the screening last night for the trotsky (presented by cfox) and it was a good laugh.  who knew a movie about a boy who believes that he is the reincarnated leon trotsky and tries to live out this life just like the the socialist revolutionary be funny.  his attempt to get the girl, thne union, and sancity of life (leon trotsky's) was charming and awkward (lovable).  it has smart jokes with plenty of reference to the russian revolutionist.  so youtube trotsky to refresh some history 12 (it actuallyc omes in handy to understand the jokes) and have a good laugh.   that history 12 was  a class worth going to for times like these. a great canadian cliche movie  (review it soon but i think you can tell what my perception of the film is.)

also had the chance to be at the tiny Q&A with Jay baruchel afterwords at the theatre.  he is just as awkward and cute as he is on screen(very humble dude.)  he had lotsa canadian pride.  i will upload the video soon on youtube.  he is on cfox and is taking questions right now( 10 ish am).

Music from the movie was scored by a montreal band and its definitley corky, punk, and canadian.  (mfore details once i ind more stuff from these guys.) it is a canadian production, indy film.  So go out this weekend to support the film and refresh some trotsky facts.

also dead weather's sea of coward is out and its great.  "hustle and cuss "is catchy as hell will review that soon as well.

February 11, 2010

Review of LP's hybrid theory.  An awesome debut by lp.  They have new material coming out soon! so look out for that.  dont worry, its not gonna be too much like minutes to midnight.  it will definitely be heavier for all the rockers out there.  but of course some light ones for the ones who enjoyed minutes to midnight.

cheers,

k

 February 6, 2010

Alrighty,  its been a good while since ive updated so a few of the sections have been updated.  however, havent had the chance to review anything new yet.  dont worry, been doing some exploring and currently obsessed with rob zombie's educated horses (i know its old but cant help but love it;  its nice to hear some heavier stuff) .  will have new reviews up soon!

some new albums being released soon:

Dead Weather

MGMT

Strokes

cant wait for those to come out!

grizzly bear, santigold,  manchester orchestra, and many more! so please bare with me.

besides some great news! soundgarden is reuniting just in time for the start of 2010!  hopefully none of that timbaland is going to show up.  cornell did a horrible move but im willing accept and move on, and find great material for soundgarden.  so wait for more info on that.

by the by, with the recent leno debacle, all i know is im with coco! check the new section for more of this.

cheers to the new year!

its been such a while since ive updated so thought i would give you a peek at what im going to review next...black rebel motorcycle club's live album will be posted soon!  just got the vinyl for it and its gonna be awesome! so stay tuned and hope everyone is enjoying this weather of ours.   it been brrr cold but the christmas feeling is just spectacular.

also pumpkins just released "song for a son" and its free to dl on their site.  finally musicians giving back to their fans.  but of course you could still buy it when all 44 tracks are released (only for hardcore fans to buy).   he's grateful for his fans but definitely still going to market it once its all out.  corgan isnt stupid.  to all that believe he's a sellout, just look at all the other artists out there.  it a way of life in the 21st century. get over it.

October 22, 2009

Check out the new moon soundtrack preview on amazon uk.  loved the twilight ost and now excited to hear the new moon ost.  its all exclusive to the soundtrack with artists such as band of skulls, thom yorke, killers, ok go, alexandre desplat, muse, editors, anya marina and a few others that i have not mentioned because  im not familar with the aritists.  all indy this time around.  death cabs track isnt that great but aparently people are loving it.  sounds a bit melancholic, but with an exception on one track by band of skulls.  cant wait for alexendre desplat's scores to be released.  sure it will have great piano and orchestral melodies.  the choices are not surprising because it is released by chop shop (Alexandra Patsavas).   check it out here:

Mutemath released their new album august 18, 2009.  Just started listening to it and its not too bad.  I havent given it a thorough listen yet so im not going to comment on it too much except for, that it was not as capitivating through my first listen as their 2006 album, which caught my attention instantly.  They are on Letterman tonight.

Been a while since i have updated.... so here is a band that you guys should check out.  They are called Silversun Pickups.  their single panic switch came out a while ago but i just havent gotten a good listen.  they sound interesting.  the vocals are a bit androgynous so give it a listen.  There is new stuff from Pearl Jam and Alice in chains in the news section.  And on a completely different note-tonight,  kings of leon on late night with conan

Ill put up a new review soon.  but for now give this a listen.

Muse's Absolution is up for review.  I know i promised different genres of artists, so  i do believe muse is a hybrid band of rock/pop.  More pop I would say.  If you like radiohead then just imagine them but more poppy. The next review will for sure depart from this stuff, i promise.

Its a long weekend, so i thought i would suggest some new music. The Black Keys are great so i thought what better way to chill through the weekend then with this awesome vancouver weather? (finally some weather that i can handle) of course with some great riffs!

I have come to the realization that the music being featured here have been of similar sound.  They all have a similar ambience to their music.  so there will be a temporary intermission of this kind of music that I will be  reviewing.  I did promised a wide range of genres in music so i will not go back on my word.  so check out the Black Keys and let me know what you think.

cheers,

It's been a while since I updated this site, so I though what better way to do it then a new band that I stumbled upon when I was searching for the band of horses' music.  They are called BAND OF SKULLS  from the UK.  Their sound is pretty awesome; they have a similar sound  to the white stripes and a bit of metric.  check out the news section for the the video.

Check out the news section this week. It is completely fucked up how MJ's father deals with his son's death.  Taking advantage of his son's death cannot be justified.  Even the business men have not released info about further milking Jackson's career after his passing.  I guess some people grieve differently.

I thought I would review something less grunge for a change because I did promise a varitey of genres in music would be explored.  Holly Brook is an artist that I adore; her stuff is an alternative to pure pop.  If you enjoy the sound of piano and acoustic guitars under great vocals then you should give this a listen.  You won't be dissapointed.  enjoy!
