New moon original motion picture soundtrack

Twilight 2 soundtrack, definitively contrasts its predecessor.  First, all the tracks are exclusive to the movie.  And second, they are all indy artists and bands, so it does not sound too commercial.  Think the oc but with vampires and a very melancholic girl (resulting from a "i cant live without the vampire" break up.)  What am I saying, if you are reading this review then you probably are a fan of the book and know all about it.  But for the sake of a few individuals who are have never heard of this before, this review might make you want to pick this up because it is a great album consisting of some pretty a-list indy bands such as death cab, sea wolf, bon iver, and the killers.  I must admit I was never much of a fan of indy music.  The range of indy stuff  i  listened to were pretty limited and most were from the oc soundtracks(basically not a huge indy fan).  But this soundtrack is growing on me.  I absolutely cannot get enough of Hurricane bells' "monster," Sea wolf's "the violet hour," and the killers' "white demon love song."  I knew it would be a good album when I found out Thom Yorke (all his music is awesome) would be contributing a track ("hearing damage").  The single  is a very electronic/techno-like, but not weird eurotrash-just thom yorke esk.  So its pretty moody and hooky.

The album consists mainly of melancholic songs.  "white demon love song," "done all wrong," "possibility," "satellite heart."  However, there are also quite a few  up beat ones by sea wolf, hurricane bells, and band of skulls (obviously for the scenes before the break up.)  There is also a score by Alexandre Desplat (curious case of benjamin button, girl with pearl earings....) which is a great way to end the album.  It sounded more epic and orchestral than Carter Burwell's original scores (sort of rockstar like).  Over all some pretty melancholic songs but Thom Yorke's "hearing damage" and Band of skulls' "friends" is enough to make me love it.  The melancholic stuff is significant in the album; however, not unbearable.  Unlike its predecessor, which was also pretty fucking fantastic (way more upbeat with a few unknown artists) you need to listen to it a few times before it will sink in.  So, even if you are not a fan of the book/movie this album is worth the trouble of a few depressive tracks because of the great artists and bands involved.  Trust me the book was unbearable(fucking depressing, didn't complete it) but the music saves the movie.

All new reviews will from now on have track listings so enjoy
