MY BOOKSHELF

Welcome to my bookshelf!  im usually not a big reader, but i have come across a few good books so i'll share it with you guys. this is obviously not about music but  i figure its on my ipod and whatever is on that device i just adore.  this section wont be updated very often unless i come across something worthy of sharing.  eversince i began playing with my apps i came across ebooks and took into some reading during my commute.  i love the app; however, it does drain the batteries silly, while reading it virtually.  but i couldnt help it.  and of course i still prefer the old fashioned book but ebooks take up less space...

JPod

by Douglas Coupland

interesting...all i can say is vancouver, weed, and a bunch of weird encounters experienced through a cubicle dudes working in a game design company.  pick it up if you have a bit of a dry sense of humour.   it is sharp and gives a contemporary look at  a breed of technogeeks. Coupland is definitely one of a kind!  Ultimately a book worth reading.  Couplands "gum theif" sounds interesting enough. i might just pick it up.

Into the Wild

by Jon Krakauer

Good book; however, the story jumps back and forth from chapter to chapter.  Without watching the movie, I probably would not have picked this up to read  because of the way it is written.  But I love the story of alex supertramp/mccandless and of how he is such a complex man that was looking for a life of simplicity.  "Happiness is shared" is the theme, and it is unfortunate that he had to find out the way he did.  (Spoiler ahead) I can just imagine the contributions he could have made to the world.

The movie is the simplified version of the book.   If you are  a big fan of the movie then pick up the book.  If the movie was mediocre to you then stay away from the book because the style its written in can be deter you from reading it.
