Come Around Sundown
KINGS OF LEON
Just by the album cover, you can tell it is going to be a chill album. It is nice to see some warmth and sun whilst sitting under the blanket of snow (on bby mnt). "Radioactve" took a few listens before I really got into it. Just like their previous album-only by night, i needed a few listens.
Kol's style was new and unique when i discovered it. the bluesy, boogie, southern rock was simply fresh (apologize for lack of a better adjective). Kol's distinct sound is still quite relevant; however, like the cover illustrates, it is chilllll. There are some country influences like "back down south," "mary," and "mi amigo." The other and of course my favorites are 'beach side,' 'birthday,' 'the end,' and 'pony up.' These tracks are definitely on the chill end. Again, i revere this band, but some how their tracks always requires a few listens before really appreciating it. 'only by night' may be "heavier' and i use that with caution because it is not that heavy compared to other bands but 'come around sundown' is definitely lighter.
As for comparing their older stuff, definitely a stretch. I found probably 6 tracks that i enjoy from all three alubms. They were an indy band previously, so im not surprised that i only picked out 6 tracks from a combo of 30 or tracks. Their style was still there but now its just...better. i guess im into their commercial sound.
If you are in the market for some light and scratchy vocals from caleb, this is still worh your while. Of course, dont just take my word for it, give it a listen.
