BON IVER
For Emma, forever ago
Bon Iver formed in 07' and released their debut album (for emma...) in 08'. "Skinny love" was their first single and it just killed on itunes and charts in the uk and north america. I first heard of them through itunes as well. First impressions was that it was chill and catchy after one listen. Other tracks like "flume," "blind sided," and, "lump sum," are nice and chill as well. The simple acoustic guitar is evident in every track. Bon Iver recored it somewhere in the woods and it sounds amazing. It is definitely an album that should be enjoyed in quiet place. "creature fear" is one of those tracks that I could just listen to all day. Some may say its a desolate kind of a record but I find in tranquil. The vocals are bit high for a dude, but it works. Think sam beam (iron and wine) and some chris marten when lead vocals are low. If you enjoy great guitar playing then definitely give it a listen. They are technically indy due to the indy label, but because they have been featured on many tv shows and movies, they have been commercialized. In fact, they did a track for one of the twilight movies and i am sure, they found another demographic of listeners. So go out, or stay in and enjoy it!
also their ep blood bank is also pretty fuckin awesome so check that out as well. blood bank is awesome and woods is interesting (auto tuned).
