Whip it! music from motion picture

A decent movie of a small town girl who ventures into an unorthodox sport (strays from the towns norm of pageants and foot ball), and enters a world of roller derby. Basically a movie about roller derby girls.  Once I finished the movie, I had to find the soundtrack.  It is an aggressive classic rock/punk album with alternative pop/dance stuff. 

21 tracks of pure awesomeness (ON ITUNES)  There are only 19 tracks on the cd.  But there are actually 58 tracks or so that didnt make the cut for soundtrack ie. band of skulls, kings of leon, radio head, MGMT, and a few others that I appreciated. Music that puts you in a good mood.  Classics from the Ramones and the Breeders to Peaches, the go! team, Ravonettes that you can rock or chill to.  Think old rock, funk, dance, alternative music that sounds a bit odd but hooky as hell.  I had not heard of more than half the bands, but "sheenas a punk rocker" and "boys wanna be her" and "high times" were enough to keep me interested.  Goose, Landon Pig, tilly and the wall are great.  This compilation of songs and artists are not usually what I flock to ( dolly parton, the chordettes, .38 special are not the norm for me, but works) because I have not explored the older artists just yet, but of course this will inspire me to do so.  This is the reason why I love soundtracks because it brings music from different eras and different and great artist that I probably would never have discovered otherwise.  So, go on, and get the tracks and embrace it all.
