Lords of Dogtown Soundtrack

Skateboarding, long haired, greasy looking street kids looking for a way to make money through doing what they love best-skateboarding. The movie was good, but the soundtrack, better.  There is classic Black Sabbath-iron man, Rod Stewart, Sparklehorse, and Foghat.  These are just a few great bands and artists to grace the soundtrack.  'death or glory' is an upbeat track; it is light with some great guitar and light drumming.  'hair of the dog,' has prominent electric guitar through out the track and screaming.  one of my favorites is foghat's 'i just wanna make sweet love', it's upbeat and still has that heavy guitar.  the entire album is just 70's music at its best.  every track is full of guitar goodness.  there is also some poppy sounding stuff by iggy pop and david bowie.   there is one band that graces the soundtrack that is not from the 70's, which is rise against.  the track has plenty of screaming and guitar as well.  one of my favorite songs from rise against. if you enjoy black keys, sheep dog, and a few others who sound like they came right out of the 70's, this is the album to groove to.  deep purple and jimi hendrix gracing the album alone is enough to make you want to listen to this.  rod stewart's 'maggie may' and sparklehorse's cover of pink floyd is two of the slower tracks on the entire album.  not usually a stewart fan but could not help but love that song; it is puppy love at its best.

you dont need to know how to skateboard or like listening  to 70's rock to enjoy this great mix because it is all so catchy.  it is just some feel good music. these are all known bands, no indy stuff.  so go ahead watch the movie and you will be in love with the soundtrack.
