SOUNDGARDEN
Superunknown
Since soundgarden will be releasing Telephantasm on September 28, 2010, I figured I would review Superunknown because it is just awesome! The entire album resonates greatness! Each and every track is heavy as hell. It has some darker ones and some lighter, but the overall ambiance is grunge, rock, and heavy riffs. “black hole sun” “the day i tried to live,” and “spoon man” are probably the most popular tracks, but tracks like “4th of July,” “let me drown,” “the day i tried to live,” and “mail man” are my favourite. “like suicide” and “head down” are a bit more mellow but still rocks. It does not matter how slow the tracks are, soundgarden is still capable of keeping the entire album heavy. Cornell’s vocals are in a higher pitch compared to other grunge bands (ie. Kurt cobain, Eddie Vedder) but somehow his scratchy (in a good way) vocals do not lighten up the mood of the tracks. When Cornell belches, all you hear is intensity. Each track is catchy on its own and this album is down in the books for awesomness!
Superunknown is by far the best album by soundgarden and of the grunge scene. “black rain” is the first track off of these guys’ telephantasm album and it sounds like a continuation of superunknown so far. Lets cross our fingers for another great album
