Cruel Intentions OST

Cruel intentions was one of those 90s teen movies that were fronted by up and comers of that time.  You have Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Reese Witherspoon.  The movie,  at the time was new and entertaining.  But I found it a few weeks ago scanning through channels and now, I  find it a bit over the top with the dialogue.   Think Chuck Bass but with Ryan Phillippe instead.  It would be a long version of gossip girl without having any breaks with other characters or story lines.  However, at the time it was entertaining, but now, it's a bit dramatic.  As for the music for the movie, still undyingly brilliant.

Placebo's introduction track to the movie, "every you, every me"  and closer track by the Verve "bittersweet symphony" are two of the best songs.  I still use the  Verve's same track as my ringtone and I still love it after a decade.   The in between tracks are just as captivating.  The tracks range from fun and loud (Bare Jr's "you blew me off) to soft and sweet (Abra moore's "trip on love").   Color blind by Counting Crows is one of the slower tracks from them at the time (unlike now, they are just poppy and chill) with great piano.  Craig armstrong's "this love" is one of those slower and haunting tracks that you cannot forget.  So that's it.  This is a soundtrack that has provided great tracks that brilliantly caters to the ambience of the film.   It's a great mix.  And truth is at the time I had no idea who these artists were but I still loved it; and presently most are gone or have changed direction in their music.  But these tracks will always be on my playlist.
