MARILYN MANSON
Eat Me, Drink Me
Marilyn Manson's 2007 album- Eat Me, Drink Me, is one of his three albums that I absolutely adore. Manson's "if i was your vampire" and "heart shape glasses" are two of my favorite tracks on the album. It has heavy riffs, plenty of loud beats and great melodies. "If I was your vampire" is spooky and dark; it has a halloween vibe to it that draws one in. "heart shape glasses" has a bit of an up beat feel and of polar opposite contrasted from "if i was your vampire." These two tracks are just the tip of the ice burg of great songs.
Lyrically, Manson has always delivered. He has plenty of drama to get through quite a few more albums. Since 2003, Manson's albums have steered closer to pop than metal, but still just as great. For hard core fans, the last few albums have fallen short of metal; however, they are still quite heavy in sound and this "eat me, drink me" still stands strong. It seems nu metal bands become softer as they progress in their music and sound ie. Linkin park, Metallica, incubus etc... lets just hope Manson's sound does not get any poppier than it is right now. Ultimately, great album to chill to (great way to get into halloween mood) and nu metal bands should get back to their earlier roots.
