BIF NAKED
I, Bifcus
I, Bifcus was bif naked's 98' debut album and it rocked the radio waves for a good while. "sapce man" and "lucky" are two of the most recognized tracks in mainstream music (top 40). The other tracks did not prove to be as powerful to a broad audience but the tracks stood strong for fanatics like myself. The energy is amazing; fast beats, heavy riffs, great vocals. Each scream got better thanthe next (not all tracks had screams, just Bif's awesome intense voice). "moment of weakness" is an example of what fast, heavy, and catchy music should be. It makes you want to just get up and rock to it(had banging and all). the lyrical content mostly referred to boys, love, and some anger, but of course it should not be compared to Alannis Morisette (also pretty great music).
this canuck definitely contrasts morrisette, in that, her stuff is not as bitter as Jagged little pill, and its also...just more fun. This would not be considered the emo of today (ie..fallout boy and a few other bands i cant remember names of) but you know what im referring to.) This was punk/rock in the 90s, where green day, nofx, sublime etc...would be blasting on walkmans and cd players. I would compare it to screaming female version of blink 182, minus the whining of tom delong. The lyrics are quite obvious, but i dont mind the directness of it. Although, sometimes it can ruin songs being that direct, but in this case it does not hurt the tracks one bit. The catchiness of each song prevails. Bif released more music after I, Bifcus, that were just as heavy but this was the only album of hers that I actually picked up as a hard copy. The other albums were not bad, but it just wasnt as catchy. The more recent stuff definitely got a little bit softer but it still has that hard edge to it.
Bif is also great live. bif was one of the first live shows I went to. Matt Good was there as well.
btw, the album costs a measley $8.96 on amazon.ca so go ahead and take advantage of a great album.
