Remember the song, something about "chica cherry cola"? well that was a 1997's Savage garden track, titled "I want you".  That's right, it was more than a decade ago!  Amazing how time passes us by.  Savage garden made music between 97' - 01' (successfully).  After this album, the duo released Affirmation, and tracks like 'animal song' and 'i knew i loved you' were the only two tracks that were memorable.  There was not much buzz afterwards either when Darren Hayes went solo;  Hayes  continues to make music today but is not finding much success in N. America, anyway.

This australian band had quite a few hits with their self titled debut.  "truly, madly, deeply", 'santa monica', 'to the moon and back' were huge in N. America and the UK.  Every track on this album is pleasure to the ears.  The pop formula resonates through out this album.  There are faster tracks like 'to the moon and back', ' I want you ', and 'tears of pearls' which were catchy as hell.  'break me, shake me' has a heavier pop sound that reminds us nothing less of 90's pop.  With tracks like 'truly, madly, deeply', 'santa monica', and 'universe' fulfilling the slower love songs on the album, it perfects the 90's poppy puppy love songs.  Some guitar and electronic sounds, in addition to the slower love songs never hurts any pop album.  Darren Hayes' vocals are distinctive; it kind of has a mj influence with the higher pitch and light screams.  The solo bass and electric guitar keeps the songs upbeat and catchy.  The bass and guitar reminds me of some stevie wonder stuff.  'Promises' is one of my favorites along with 'break me, shake me', and 'violent'.  what can i say, i am a bit of a sucker for some good ol' 90's pop.  these songs will definitely take you back to the 90s.  So go ahead and reminisce the past.
