Just received the vinyl for Christmas and I have to say its pretty awesome. This is a compilation of three live European shows (Berlin, Dublin, and Glasgow). Its a double lp consisting of 14 of their great tracks, including my favorite "weapon of choice." The key word here, kiddies, is live! The sound quality for a live show is absolutely amazing. On vinyl, the sound is befitting because it elicits that vintage, classic hard rock sound. Despite having mixed reviews (I believe its because most of the reviews were coming from critics having their hands on a cd and expect a perfect studio quality sound), I find this compilation necessary for any rock lover.
This band formed in 98' in the states and so far have released 5 records to date; with their debut in 2000. Now, for new listeners, their sound is led zepplin mixed with some sonic youth and some poppy riffs. Some stones can also be referenced depending on which album you listen to. Although there debut was in 2000, I couldnt help but associate there sound with early 90's bands such as oasis, the verve, and the strokes. Hope that gives you all a better idea. I know there are many bands referenced for their sound, but I hope it isn't too ambiguous or vague that it deters one from giving it a listen simply because of the fear of a generic sounding band. I promise that their music is distinctive and passionate enough for one to relish and rock to!
